Conceived and headed by Dr. Marvin Slepian, ACABI collects a wealth of experience in stewarding invention into approved biomedical inventions through through proof-of-principle testing, expertise in regulatory clinical trials and more.


Dr. Marvin J. Slepian is Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) and BioMedical Engineering at the University of Arizona and McGuire Scholar in the Eller College of Management, also at Arizona. Dr. Slepian presently directs the Arizona Center for Accelerated Biomedical Innovation and teaches a university-wide course annually on Innovation, Translation and Entrepreneurship. Rakhi Gibbons has been in the technology transfer field for nearly a decade and joins ACABI after serving as senior licensing specialist for Life Sciences at The University of Michigan. Rakhi works closely with faculty and researchers in the Arizona Health Sciences Center (AHSC) and oversees intellectual property at ACABI, AHSC and various life sciences departments across campus.
